WCN TRANSMEDIA EVENT SHOWCASE: "Culture Olympics" World Art Competition 2012

WCN TRANSMEDIA EVENT SHOWCASE: "Culture Olympics" World Art Competition 2012

The Association “Culture Olympics” is a non-profit non-governmental organisation with an aim of preparing and organizing the First Culture Olympics in 2012. In that way (by introducing the creative accomplishments of all the participating countries in the Culture Olympics) we want to globally present the national cultures, promote international cooperation, tolerance and inter-cultural dialogue, which will positively imprint in the youngest generations in educational terms. With its multicultural nature the project contributes significantly to a better understanding among the nations.

Even in the Hellenic times the Olympic Games were comprehended as the development of both the spirit and the body – in the categories of art, philosophy and sports. By holding to the Olympic regulations and by coordinating with the sports Olympic Games, we envisaged the First Culture Olympic Games to be held for two weeks in Osijek, Vukovar, Ludbreg, Križevci  and other Croatian cities (depending on the number of participants) in September 2012. We are inviting all countries, from all over the World, to participate.

Unlike the already existing festivals (music, film and similar) or biennials, The Culture Olympics will have as represented all the categories of artistic expressions and creativity with a competitive character, and will be repeated every 2 years, at the same venue.

The beginning and the duration of the Culture Olympics is expected to be from September 16th to September 30, 2012.

Every country (National Committee of Culture Olympics) will choose Categories in which they wish to participate and will choose their representatives in the respective categories (National Team). Thus with help of Artist and / or Embassies we establish such Committees (Boards). The Board should consist of at least 5 members, Artists from different Art disciplines and VIP`s. Board is invited to select artistic disciplines for which they would send their representatives / artists / competitors (by the list of the disciplines specified in the Charter). Together with their representatives in the chosen discipline the Board also elect one Member of the Jury for the same discipline (the medal winners are determined in the manner similar to the election procedure for the ESC winner).

In the preparation period and between to Culture Olympics we constantly prepare and organise International Cultural Excanges, Art Colonies, Conferences, Roundtables, Lectures,  Publications, etc

The presentation of the awarded (Festival Winners) will be organised in few selected cities in the world. Every Country nominate one city for one artistic discipline. The candidacy should be announced to the organiser until August 2012.

The project is a copyrighted intellectual property of the Croatian-Israeli painter Peter Weisz, who is also the Organisation’s President. It is managed under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport and Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Croatia, and hopefully others in the time. The Organisation and the project have the support of the International Peace Bureau (IPB) – Nobel Price Winner, local and Governmental authorities, the University, as well as of the representatives of all national minorities from this multicultural area (13 of them).
