WCN TRANSMEDIA SHOWCASE: Oprah's Master Class OWN, Maya Angelou & Jay-Z "A LESSON IN TRANSMEDIATION"

WCN TRANSMEDIA SHOWCASE: Oprah's Master Class OWN, Maya Angelou & Jay-Z "A LESSON IN TRANSMEDIATION"

Its been said that we may get our 15 minutes of fame and many of us don't yet understand that in those moments you have to be ready.

It was maybe about 20 years ago when I got on a plane leaving Boston's Logan Airport heading home to NYC.  The moment I got on the plane there she was an Angel: The inspirational, The Kind and The Loving Mentor who I spent 3 hours talking to because of a rain delay…the venerable Maya Angelou. She is a True Transmedia Icon, who touched my life personally, and it’s my honor to award Maya with the 2011 WCN Social Media Legacy Award.
Yes Maya Angelo allowed me to sit in the open seat in the first row of the plane.  There she was with her assistant and an open seat.   My heart raced because I recall my mother reading her books & poems and learned true SHEROISM, here is someone who has come against impossible odds, yet had a perspective on leadership and decision making that I carry to this very day.

OPRAH'S Master Class is a Brilliant Television Concept that I hope will make OWN very successful in communicating and reaching its audience.  And even more important is the Audience can OWN the lessons from the show to make the world a better place.

MY SHERO
"MAYA ANGELO"

MASTER CLASS: JAY-Z
DREAMS DO COME TRUE:

A LESSON IN TRASMEDIATION: Inspired by Michael Moon of GISTICS Incorporated, Reported by Jay O'Conner CEO or WCNTV Transmedia Catalyst.

Transmediation entails the optimization grand narratives for engagement and immersion across multimodal (multi-format, multimedia, multi-device) content.

Transmediators use focused imagination and resonance to maintain COHERENCE of their narratives across the Web, print, packaging, signage, and satellite TV as well as beverages, cosmetics and personal care, events, fashion apparel, food, industrial design, and Web services for PCs and mobile devices (including Apps!)

Transmedia practitioners--transmediators--assume a market condition of *hyper-transparency*, wherein the personal truths of each actor (consumer, customer, intermediaries, originating service provider or product innovator, and the entire "upstream" raw material, component, and assembly providers) remain accessible to each other.

Transmedia parallels the emergence of "slow food" and the idea of "soil to plate" and "farmer to diner" — wherein *social* becomes the newest active ingredient in consumption.

Hyper-transparency thus demands the following of all key actors

• Personal authenticity and congruence
• Willing communication and engagement with other stakeholders
• Earned and sustainable trust

This will entail the transformation of marketing--from hucksters putting lipstick on smelly pigs to authentic and congruent "brand advocates" attracting and engaging consumers in conversation, discussion, and reasoned argument.

Who are Transmediators?

We believe that Transmediation will resonate with these stakeholding groups:

• CREATIVES in advertising and marketing services seeking a broader economic framework for their creative work

• Digital "dotcom" BRAND OWNERS seeking effective physical presence of their purely digital brands

• DIGITAL CONTENT INFRASTRUCTURE providers view Transmedia as the next big category for generating demand for the content services

• MULTIMEDIA PUBLISHERS transforming their content portfolios into active and vibrant guilds, communities, and congresses

What we do? -  Transmedia Match.com

We are building a pipeline to increase the amount of Production that can be released to a Social Networked Audience allowing viewers to instantly buy anything seen via IPTV.

We provide Advertisers the opportunity to use product placement to sell more products to the targeted demo for their product having been invited into the Transmedia Relationship.

We provide Content Owners access to a revenue share opportunity on the click and buy, through rates for each unique impression delivered to that advertiser leading to the interaction with said retail fulfillment operation.

We provide reporting tools for Advertisers and Content Owners as to who clicked, on what item, by time, zip code, IP Address and/or Payment Processing systems for merchandising and fulfillment.

We protect Intellectual Property Online as the monetization is in the click, removing the incentive for bootlegging or restriction barriers from international distribution of content online.

We are building a Sales Team to support Producers to attract Advertisers to monetize their content at all levels from the BIG BLOCKBUSTER STUDIO to a College Student who has the right to Distribution of his Film about anything he wants to say.

The Way Forward

Now technically let’s set this as a given.  If Mark Zuckerberg, Zynga Gaming and the Hulu and others can keep their systems up and running so that 500 million people can be communicating, playing, looking at pictures and spending billions in virtual money for everything from Farmville to Poker, our proposal to monetize streaming video has the expandable capacity via cloud computing and with companies like PayPal, Playspan, Micro transactions are more than possibly in any currency.

Transmediation is here and this is an incredible opportunity to take this to a mainstream audience.

WCN TRANSMEDIA GROUP SALUTES "MICHAEAL BAISDEN'S ONE MILLION MENTORS MOVEMENT"

WCN TRANSMEDIA GROUP SALUTES MICHAEAL BAISDEN'S "ONE MILLION MENTORS MOVEMENT"

When it comes to entertaining, enlightening and educating, no one in talk radio compares to Michael Baisden. His high-octane energy and love for interacting with
his listeners is just one reason for the popularity and success of The Michael Baisden Show. The Bad Boy ignites heated discussions with explosive episodic themes like: Living Your Dream, Your Body Is Your Temple, and Pimps In The Pulpit.

His radio career began in 2003 when 98.7 KISS FM in New York City offered him a position as the afternoon drive-time host. Because of budget constraints the station was unable to offer him a salary. Michael's response was, "Just give me the damned mic!" And sure enough, within six months, their afternoon drive ratings went from number 9 to number 1.

After eight months of consistent high ratings, Michael suggested taking his show national but management was apprehensive, suggesting that New York wasn't ready. A few months later, Michael threatened to quit if management did not pursue a syndication deal. "There was no doubt in my mind that I could have one of the hottest shows on radio! I knew the impact it would have on people all across the country and I wasn't taking no, for an answer," Michael rebutted.
 BAISDEN AFTER DARK

His vibrant personality on and off the air has made him a people magnet. He began attracting attention with primarily female followers as author and publisher of the highly successful provocative books: "Never Satisfied: How and Why Men Cheat", "Men Cry in the Dark", "The Maintenance Man", and lastly "God's Gift to Women". Two of his titles ultimately were adapted into stage plays.
But his proudest moment came on September 20, 2007, when he passionately and skillfully spearheaded the famous Jena 6 March in Jena, Louisiana. This historic and momentous occasion garnered tens of thousands citizens of all races to peacefully marched in support of six young men who have been unfairly treated by the justice system. In addition, he urged millions of listeners to wear black on September 20 in protest of unequal justice. The news traveled throughout the country, everyone wore black in support of the Jena 6, from college students of all races to corporate executives.
2008 was another historic year. In late January Michael endorsed Sen. Barack Obama in the democratic primary against Sen. Hillary Clinton. Sen. Obama ultimately won and went on to defeat Sen. John McCain in general election on November 4. Michael celebrated with over 4,000 fans at a watch party in Miami on election night. The Obama camp along with millions of listeners credited Michael with being one of the major forces behind this historic victory to elect the first African American to the Presidency of the United States.
The Bad Boy continues to entertain, enlighten and educate as he pursues one of his first dreams, to have his novels adapted to major Motion pictures. The other dream was to host a Late Night Talk show. He got that chance in the fall of 2007, when he partnered with TV One to host and co-executive produce "Baisden After Dark," featuring comedian George Willborn and band leader Morris Day. The show was a smash hit, breaking records for viewers on the black owned network.
Stay tuned ~ it's just the beginning of the Bad Boy's legacy.

 Be a Mentor & Make a Difference

What a Mentor Is:

The word mentor is defined as a trusted friend, counselor, or guide. Mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character needed for a successful future.

A mentor provides a young person with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and most importantly, constructive example. Mentors are good listeners, people who care and people who want to help. All children have the potential to succeed in life and contribute to society but not all children have the support they need to recognize their own strengths. If you are dedicated and ready to help change a young person's life in a positive way, you can be the motivation and support they need by becoming a mentor!

Types of Mentoring:

 Youth Mentoring
The the process of matching mentors with young people who need or want a caring, responsible adult in their lives. Adult mentors are usually unrelated to the child or teen and work as volunteers through a community, school, or church-based social service program.

Volunteering in Schools
Volunteering is the practice of people working on behalf of others without being motivated by financial or material gain. These volunteers give students a positive role model and educational success is encouraged and improved.

Mentoring in Education
In many secondary and post-secondary schools, mentorship programs are offered to support students in program completion, confidence building and transitioning to further education or the workforce.

Peer Mentoring
A form of mentoring that takes place in learning environments such as schools, usually between an older more experienced student and a new student or student needing assistance. Mentors often undergo training that will help guide them in the mentoring process.

Tutor

An instructor who teaches a specific educational subject or skill to an individual student or small group of students. Such attention allows the student to improve knowledge or skills far more rapidly than in a classroom setting, enhancing their overall educational experience.

Coaching
A method of directing, instructing and training someone with the aim to achieve some goal or develop specific skills.

eMentors
Providing a guided mentoring relationship using online software or email.

Mentoring Children of Prisoners
In January 2002, President George W. Bush signed a bill expanding the Safe and Stable Families Program (Public Law 107-133)

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_mentoring#cite_note-5>

...which included authorization for a mentoring program for children of prisoners. According to a U.S. Senate Report, children of prisoners are six times more likely to be incarcerated at some point in their lives. Without effective intervention strategies, as many as 70% of these children will become involved with the criminal justice system.

Become A Mentor:
If you are interested in becoming a mentor in your area, here is a good resource to get you started:

• 2.4 million black children have an incarcerated parent.

• Murder is the #1 cause of death among our young men.

WCN TRANSMEDIA LEGACY AWARD WINNER:SHIELA CRUMP JOHNSON, FILMAKER "A POWERFUL NOISE"

WCN TRANSMEDIA GROUP SALUTES THE  SHIELA CRUMP JOHNSON, FILMAKER "A POWERFUL NOISE"

The marriage itself ended in 2002. "I consider it a tragedy, and very painful," she told the Post. "But we move on. That's the way it is. I'm not going to sit down and shrivel up and disappear." And indeed she didn't. Johnson's divorce marked not only the end of one career but the beginning of several others.

Turned to Equestrian Lifestyle

Johnson purchased (for over $7 million) and took up residence on a 349-acre farm, formerly owned by Washington socialite and mover-and-shaker Pamela Harriman, near Middleburg in Loudoun County, Virginia. This was horse-farm country, extremely wealthy and almost all-white in its population. Johnson had to hire a hairstylist to make weekly trips from Washington, but she fit in quickly with her new community. "We have real neighbors who come over and bring warm breads and jams that they have made," Johnson enthused in the Washington Post. A few locals who had made veiled racial comments were won over when Johnson invited them to a letter-perfect hunt breakfast. Soon Johnson had the elaborate rituals of aristocratic Virginia country life down to a science.
Her massive fundraisers for local charities became legendary. To raise money for the Piedmont Environmental Council she organized a holiday ball that transformed an indoor horse track into a meticulously detailed winter scene, complete with falling snow, a performance by R&B greats Ashford & Simpson, and a snow queen gown for Johnson herself. A frequent guest at such events and at Johnson's Salamander Farm was her friend, Washington-based television weather personality Willard Scott.

At a Glance …

Born Sheila Crump in 1949(?) in Maywood, IL; daughter of a neurosurgeon; married Robert L. Johnson (a cable television executive) (divorced, 2002); children: Paige, Brett. Education: University of Illinois, BA, music, 1970.
Career: Sidwell Friends School, Washington, DC, instructor, 1970s; Youth Strings in Action orchestra, founder, 1975; United States Information Agency, cultural liaison to Jordan, 1970s; Black Entertainment Television, co-founder (with Robert L. Johnson), executive vice president for corporate affairs, early 1980s-1999; Salamander Farm, Loudoun County, VA, owner, 2002–; Washington International Horse Show, administrator, 2002–.
Selected awards: Honorary doctorate, Bennett College, 2004; honorary doctorate, State University of New York at Morrisville.
Addresses: Office—Salamander Inn & Spa, 3074 Zulla Rd., The Plains, VA 20198.
One thing that drew Johnson to Loudoun County was the budding equestrian career of her daughter Paige, who trained six days a week on horseback and was considered a strong contender for a spot on the United States Olympic equestrian team. "I started to accumulate horses, then decided we needed our own place," Johnson told Ebony. Paige's involvement in the sport cost Johnson an estimated $1 million annually. Johnson became involved in horse show administration herself, and as president of the Washington International Horse Show she guided the event to its first-ever profit. Her younger son, Brett, also showed promise as an athlete.

Generously Gave Away Millions

Johnson's fundraising experiences had begun during her marriage, as she and her husband helped build the campaign war chests of President Bill Clinton. She gave $3 million to Middleburg's
Hill School, a private institution her son attended, but she quickly expanded her philanthropic efforts beyond their local scope. She was invited to give a commencement speech at the State University of New York at Morrisville, a school with both a strong equestrian program and a large minority enrollment; after her highly motivational speech proved a rousing success, Johnson offered a $1 million gift. She followed that up with a $2 million gift to the financially struggling Bennett College, a historically black school in Greensboro, North Carolina, and in 2003 she gave $7 million to New York's Parsons School of Design; it was by far the largest gift the school had ever received.
Typically, Johnson had still bigger things in mind. She planned to create a foundation with $100 million in assets, and she met with Microsoft founder Bill Gates to discuss the administration of his multibillion-dollar Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. On the income side of the ledger, Johnson announced plans for the Salamander Inn & Spa, a luxury resort to be built on a portion of her Loudoun County property. The only hint of conflict with her new neighbors came when local residents resisted the project even though Johnson had herself rescued Salamander Farm from tract development plans a few years earlier. Johnson won some people over with plans to serve local products at the resort's restaurant and at a planned Salamander Market in Middleburg.
Winning approval for the inn was an exacting process, with county officials questioning details right down to the thread count of the sheets to be used in guest rooms. But by mid-2004 the final hurdles in the path of the project seemed to have been cleared, and Sheila Crump Johnson was ready to add another item to her list of "firsts": she was the first African-American woman to build a luxury hotel. She continued to shape her children's educations and careers, exhibited and sold her photographs of Europe in local galleries, and supervised the staff of 25 who attended to the 13 buildings on Salamander Farm. And sometimes, when she staged or attended a fundraising event, she provided the music herself by bringing along her violin.

WCN TRANSMEDIA GROUP SALUTES "CORPORATE CARE INCORPORATED"

WCN TRANSMEDIA GROUP SALUTES "CORPORATE CARE INCORPORATED"

What is Corporate Chaplaincy?

man-holding-head.jpgCorporate chaplaincy provides an employer the opportunity to connect with employees through an onsite, qualified chaplain who has everyone’s best interest at heart. Corporate chaplaincy is all about building relationships that benefit employees and employers. Chaplains connect with employees where they work, providing encouragement and support. Chaplains become an extension of the employer’s care. They connect employees with resources that help employees deal with whatever life brings their way. Chaplains also come alongside business owners to provide support and encouragement. Our aim is to help a team grow in effectiveness while bringing great benefit to the workplace and the employer.

Vision & Mission

picture3.jpg
Vision
Encouraging employees with listening ears, compassionate hearts, and faithful hands.
Mission
Connecting with employees and providing as much encouragement and support as needed, and directing them back to their personal and professional responsibilities as quickly as possible.

Our History

picture2.jpgIt all began in the fall of 1987 when Scott Lewis a dear friend came to me asking me if I knew what a corporate chaplain was? Scott was in a ministry transition, and a mutual friend had asked him if he would consider coming into his company and serve as a corporate chaplain? I informed him I had never heard of a corporate chaplain, but if it is an individual who chaplains in the marketplace and helping employees with “life” issues, I love the idea.

We incorporated the business in the fall of 1987 and for many years grew the business by adding clients from North Carolina to Colorado and from Minnesota to south Texas. God was blessing our efforts as he was very passionate about the masses of people in the marketplace of the world. In 2005 Scott transitioned again but this time he transitioned to heaven.

In January 2006 the company was re branded and reinvented. My long-time college friend Jon Cook, joined with me in redefining Corporate Care and we were off to the races. We’ve added numerous new clients throughout Oklahoma and beyond. We have traveled all the way to China with our vision for Corporate Care and corporate chaplaincy. There we communicated to men and women with a heart for employees throughout mainland China.

God continues to open doors we could never have dreamed of just a few months ago. Our desire is to continue to follow God’s leadership in caring for employees and employers, while equipping men and women all over the world to serve business owners and employees with the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

THE ANGEL OF PEACE

About Us

It was a very quiet morning 3:30 am when I was surrounded by a blazing yellow white light, that engulfed me in the room as I slept. This light filled every corner and sparkled as I gazed upon it. I saw her, the most beautiful Angel of Peace® balanced in mid air on a pocket of energy. She looked at me with warm loving eyes and wings that seemed to span the length and breathe of the room. I was not afraid for she felt loving, kind and compassionate.

In my mind, my question to her was who are you? Why are you
here? What can I do for you? The light became brighter as she spoke "I am the mother of creation, I come to give light and love to all." She disappeared for a second and reappeared in the middle of a fabric design. Her warmth enfolded and embraced me, as such power and might was felt by one so humble.

I looked around and she was gone. As I closed my eyes, I could still feel her energy in the stillness of my room. I could still feel the peace, which was awakened in me by the light.

Today this peace permeates my entire life and the love which flows with her presence has never left me. It took a while for me to find a fabric designer to capture her as she appeared to me. The designer tried but failed. The third time his hands never left the paper until he finished. As she was presented to me in design, I felt that loving feeling which I experienced when she first appeared.
